SHEELARANI V. S. - A palliative care nurse, Currently working in Community palliative Nurse in Kottayam, Kerala, India since 2011.
She is dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare and nursing services to patients afflicted with chronic and debilitating diseases. Her tireless efforts have led to a significant expansion of the project, from an initial 52 patients to a remarkable 1839 patients under her care. As part of her commitment to transparency and accountability, she submits comprehensive monthly reports to the Community Health Centre, Grama Panchayat, and District Medical Officer. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to palliative nursing care, she was honored with the prestigious National Florence Nightingale Award 2021 by the Government of India and the Nursing Council of India. This esteemed award was presented to her by the Honorable President of India on November 7, 2022, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
She has also received numerous accolades for her exceptional work in palliative care. In 2014, she was honored by the Chief Minister of Kerala for her outstanding palliative care project in Grama Panchayaths. Additionally, she received the "Shreshta Manava Seva Puraskaram" award from the National Human Rights Commission in 2022, recognizing her tireless efforts in the field. The same year, she was presented with a citation by the Indian Nursing Council and Trained Nurses Association in New Delhi. In 2023, she was awarded the "Swanthanam" Award by the Rajeswary Foundation in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Furthermore, she was invited to the Raj Bhavan by the Honorable Governor of Kerala in recognition of her National Florence Nightingale Award 2021.
